Senior Joel Visser has 16 hits and seven runs in 11 games this season.

The UT baseball team dropped three games to Miami (Ohio) University over the weekend as part of a three-game series against the RedHawks at McKie Field in Oxford, Ohio.

Yesterday the Rockets fell 9-6 in their third loss of the weekend.

Miami took a quick 6-1 lead after the Rockets scored one run in the top of the first inning.

UT battled to stay with the RedHawks through the rest of the game, but were unable to get three more runs to lift them to a victory.

Josh Johnson led the Rockets going 4-for-5, scoring two runs.

The RedHawks (11-9, 3-0 MAC) defeated the Rockets (6-9, 0-3 MAC) 4-2 in the first game on Saturday, and scored twelve runs on a season-high sixteen hits to beat UT 12-2 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The first game went scoreless until the fourth inning. The RedHawks got on the board first after a two-run single from Chris Nadeau, who advanced to second base after the throw to home plate. Eric Darlage then stepped up to the plate for Miami and delivered a double down the right field line to score Nadeau, giving the RedHawks an early 3-0 lead.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, freshman Aaron Dudley, a Toledo native and 2006 graduate of St. Francis de Sales, got on base with a single, followed by sophomore Jake Oester's first home run of the season to pull the visiting Rockets within one.

The game would remain 3-2 until the bottom of the sixth inning. After the RedHawks' Nadeau was hit by a pitch, Darlage hit a single to right center, advancing Nadeau to third base in scoring position. Miami 's Jeff Carroll drove in the run after a single to left field, giving the Redhawks a 4-2 lead.

Neither team scored after that point, and Miami came away with the two-run victory. Toledo was led by Dudley, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the game.

In the second game, Miami again led the scoring attack after Evan Armitage scored on Josh Hula's sacrifice fly in the third inning.

The Rockets responded in the top of the fourth after sophomore Josh Colliver's RBI groundout tied the game at one apiece. However, the RedHawks quickly answered in the bottom of the fourth.

In Miami 's first at-bat of the inning, Jordan Petraitis was walked, followed by a Darlage single up the middle, putting Petraitis on third. Another sacrifice fly, this time from Carroll, gave Petraitis enough time to cross home plate and give the RedHawks a 2-1 lead.

Miami scored again in the fifth, but the Rockets came right back with a run in the sixth, closing the gap to 3-2. Junior Drew Hoisington started off the inning with a double.

Fellow junior Jake Swint then stepped into the batter's box and layed down a bunt, advancing Hoisington to third. Miami's catcher was charged with a throwing error on the play, allowing Swint to go to second and scoring Hoisington for Toledo's second run of the game.

In the seventh, Miami continued to put pressure on the Rockets with two hits and two runs to start the inning, jumping out to a 5-2 lead. In the eighth, the RedHawks were too much for Toledo , sealing the deal with a season-high seven run inning.

The RedHawks were lead by Connor Graham, who graduated from Toledo St. John's in 2004. Graham (3-1) pitched for eight innings, striking out six batters and allowing only two runs off five hits from the Rockets. The Rockets had four different pitchers in the game.

The Rockets will host Oakland University on Tuesday at Scott Park at 3 p.m. and will travel to Ohio State University on Wednesday for a game a 2:35 p.m.
