The Independent Collegian is calling all poets, lyricists, novelists, short story writers, photographers, essayists and artists. We are proud to announce a call for submissions for the Independent Collegian’s first online literary publication, the “IC Underground.”
We are looking for unheard voices, unseen art and unread words to publish in our first literary volume. In the spirit of independent publishing, our review will encapsulate the creative talents of Midwesterners. We will only consider serious, articulate and refined submissions.
“IC Underground” will consist of unpublished works of poetry, creative non-fiction, fiction, artwork, photography and photo-essays. Documentary, experimental and narrative styles will be accepted.
Submissions are open to everyone, but selections will focus on Midwest writers and content revolving around the Midwest. Submissions will be accepted April 14, 2010 – May 8, 2010. Submit 3 – 5 poems, approximately 750 words of prose, or 5 – 10 photos. The first volume of “IC Underground” is tentatively scheduled for publication at IndependentCollegian.com during the week of May 9, 2010. “IC Underground” is edited and managed by the editorial board of the Independent Collegian.
The mission of “IC Underground” is to provide a literary, artistic, tasteful illustration of life and culture in the Midwest. The review is non-profit and dedicated to highlighting the unpublished literary and artistic works of emerging writers and creators from the UT community and the surrounding Midwest.
—Send hard copy submissions without staples to 2132 Middlesex Dr. Toledo, Ohio 43606. Electronic submissions can be e-mailed as a .doc attachment to Arts@IndependentCollegian.com with SUBMISSION: LAST Name, FIRST Name as the subject.
