Toledo women’s basketball coach Tricia Cullop announced this afternoon that freshman guard Cat Wells has been suspended from the team indefinitely for breaking an unspecified team rule.

“Cat has broken team rules and as a result has been suspended indefinitely,” Cullop said in a statement. “We hope she will learn from her mistakes and make wiser choices in the future.”

The Lady Rockets begin practice Oct. 1 and there’s no guarantee if or when Wells returns to the team.

Wells is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Toledo where she scored 924 points and started for three years.

As a senior, Wells averaged 11.9 points, 7.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game and led the Eagles to the state semifinals.
