Terry Biel and Allison Dow took second place with 1,382 votes.
Betz and Democko both said they were surprised by the results.
"My stomach is still turning," Democko said. "All the work we've done - it finally paid off."
Chris Hammond, whose campaign with Reggie Barker received 794 votes before they were split up among the other tickets in the run-off, said he wasn't surprised by the results either.
"With the big turnout on Monday and Tuesday, I thought Terry and Allison were ahead because they reached a lot of students by mail," Hammond said. "But we knew all along that [Betz and Democko] were the heavy-weight favorites."
Hammond also said he has fears about the two's future in the office.
"I don't think any of their platform will be accomplished," he said. "However, I don't think Student Government will be any worse off than it was before."
Betz, who proclaimed "History repeats itself" during his acceptance speech, said he was thankful for the work of his predecessors.
"We have a lot of new ideas, but we also want to build off of [those from the past]," he said. "They've laid the groundwork to help us make our ideas accessible to all students."
Contrary to Hammond's remark, Democko said history repeating itself wasn't a bad thing.
"We have the support of the people in the past, and we believe they gave us the right advice [on how to run the campaign]," Democko said.
Guy Beeman, former SG president and supporter of Betz and Democko, declined to comment.
Amy Steves, the outgoing SG president, said she thinks Betz and Democko will do a great job.
"They've both shown a lot of initiative in getting things done," she said. "I'm excited to see what kinds of changes they can bring."
Camie Corrigan, outgoing SG vice president, had some words of advice for Betz and Democko.
