Get ready, students; the Rocket Solutions Central is set to officially open July 1.

Why is this important? Rocket Solutions Central is a combination of the financial aid office, the Bursar's office and the Registrar's office. In other words, it's a one-stop shop for the bills students need to pay or with which they need help.

"Students won't be standing in multiple lines so that they can be done and move on with academics," said Lisa Hasselschwert, director of Rocket Solutions Central.

The idea began in 2004, according to Hasselschwert. UT looked for ways to make paying and handling bills and financial aid easier, so students, faculty and staff were surveyed. Rocket Solutions Central was chosen as the best idea.

"We are always an advocate for doing things on time or ahead of time, but in the instance that students [don't have the time to do so], they can come to the center," she said, adding that some of these services can be completed online, but this will be easier for in-person service.

The problem is that some students stand in multiple long lines when the semester begins for an array of reasons, Hasselschwert said; Rocket Solutions Central is to help decrease that.

The original offices of the Bursar, Registrar and financial aid aren't disappearing, though. They are still functioning, but they'll just handle the heavy paperwork, Hasselschwert said.

Rocket Solutions Central will be able to process financial aid, print transcripts and enrollment certificates and assist in understanding UT accounts, Hasselschwert said.

"This is an integration of all these processes," she said, adding that the new office will take the good service UT gave to students in the past and completing it in one spot.

Combining all of those processes into one office might be tough on staff, but they are going through extensive training this year, Hasselschwert said, and there's still a lot of training to go because it's an ongoing process.
