The Rockets' mens' basketball team lost 68-52 last night on the road against the University of Akron (5-2 MAC, 15-5) at James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron. Toledo is now 3-4 in Mid-American Conference play and 6-13 overall. In the first half, the Rockets controlled the tempo early as they hit seven of their first 12 shots from the field to take a 21-14 advantage with 11:16 remaining.

The Rockets were unable to stop Kent State University's 6'3" freshman Ellie Shields, who nearly single-handedly defeated UT last night. Shields, who scored a career-high 31 points, and the Golden Flashes defeated the Rockets 87-61, extending UT's road losing streak.
Two of the Rockets' most successful coaches signed contract extensions to keep them at UT through the 2009 season. Head Soccer Coach Brad Evans renewed his contract yesterday, while Head Swimming-and-diving Coach Lars Jorgensen extended his contract on Tuesday.
