The Women's Leadership Forum is calling for an outside contractor to go back to the beginning and re-do a recently released gender-equity study with which they have several problems. The study, based on data from 2005, stated that though there were differences between the salaries of men and women at all levels of the university, the differences could be explained by factoring out the length of time a person has worked in a certain position and by taking into account the differences in market value of certain positions.

Due to the ongoing renovation of Savage Hall, the spring commencement ceremony is undergoing a bit of a change. The ceremony will take place at the Glass Bowl Stadium on May 3 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow. According to Rosemary Haggett, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, this move will not only benefit students, but also students' guests, as the Glass Bowl can seat more people than Savage Hall and everyone can be accommodated.

When Carol Bresnahan arrived at UT, she thought she'd be leaving in no time. "I said, 'I'll be here for two or three years and then move on to someplace better,'" she said. "I've repudiated that belief since." It's a good thing, too, because when Bresnahan leaves UT for a job as provost and executive vice president at the College of New Jersey on July 2, she will be ending her 23-year tenure at the university.

Student Government is not the only group having elections within the next couple weeks - the Medical Student Council will hold its elections this week. "The MSC is like the Student Government for medical students on the Health Science Campus," said Vice President of the MSC Ricci Sylla, a second-year medical student.
The 2008 Student Government presidential tickets saw their first penalties against them Thursday night. Both tickets did not submit their required lists of poll workers that were due on March 14, resulting in a complaint from the Election Board. Jon Wang, of the Nelson/Wang presidential ticket, said the infraction was due to the fact that he didn't know how things worked.
UT's Main and Scott Park campuses will be getting new copiers and printers soon. The change is for two reasons, according to David Wahr, interim director for auxiliary services. The first is because the contract with the previous copier and printer company, Ricoh, is expired, and the second is to help UT become greener.
Students interested in free clothing should head to spring sporting events. "I Love UT" t-shirts will be given out at UT's "Olympic sports," a generic term used to describe all other sports outside of basketball and football. The shirts will be given out at home baseball, women's and men's tennis, track-and-field and softball games for the rest of this semester through May 2.
