UT President Lloyd Jacobs held his highly student-attended Town Hall on Tuesday amid the iron supports and freshly concreted floors of the Memorial Field House. Of the more than 150 people who attended the event, about half were students - a change from the normal Town Hall attendees, which mainly includes administrators.
As the plans for the renovation to MacKinnon Hall continue, Chuck Lehnert, associate vice president for facilities and construction, explained why there is a more than $2 million difference between last summer's renovations of the other three Quad buildings and this summer's renovation to MacKinnon.

Gun control is getting its audience before the U.S. Supreme Court, and Attorney Alan Gura, who spoke on campus Monday, is fighting to keep firearms in the hands of American civilians. The case in question is District of Columbia v. Heller, and it's debating whether the right to bear arms (the Second Amendment) is reserved for the military or for the private citizen.

UT is creating a new program that will use modern techniques to help cataract patients. The new ophthalmology fellowship program uses the most modern techniques available to allow 90-95 percent of cataract patients to not only get rid of their cataracts, but also the need of glasses for the rest of their lives.
