Junior Aleksander Elezovic was named the Mid-American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week yesterday after earning three individual victories and two doubles wins last week in matches against Butler University, Wayne State and the University of Notre Dame. This was the second time the 6-2 junior from Serbia was honored with Player of the Week after earning the title on Jan 28.

Elezovic defeated Notre Dame’s David Anderson 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (12-10) while playing the No. 2 singles to win the only match against the Fighting Irish as UT lost 6-1.

“[Elezovic] is starting to do some special things on the court, underscored by his herculean performance Sunday against Notre Dame,” Toledo Head Coach Al Wermer said

He also defeated Butler’s Bryce Warren, who was selected as a first team all-Horizon League member last season, and Wayne State’s Britton Steele in straight sets. With these three victories, Elezovic is undefeated (5-0) at the No. 2 singles spot this season and is 10-5 in singles competition overall. Elezovic teamed up with Knuthavit Likitkumchorn and earned a victory against Wayne State in the No. 1 doubles slot, which improves his doubles record to 8-6 overall.
