28. S. Diego Chargers -
Terrence Cody DT
Alabama
Bauman: After releasing defensive tackle Jamal Williams, the Chargers must find a nose tackle. Terrence “Mount” Cody was a force for Alabama and could provide the grit San Diego needs on the inside.
29. New York Jets -
Jerry Hughes OLB
TCU
Davis: Even with the recent signing of Jason Taylor, Hughes will be a great addition to the Jets for the future. Rex Ryan’s top-ranked defense is getting scarier by the day, especially after the additions of Taylor and Antonio Cromartie.
30. Minnesota Vikings -
Jared Odrick
Penn State
Mack: Defensive tackle is not a major need with the “Williams Wall” firmly in place, but Pat Williams turns 38 in October and is beginning to regress. Odrick would be solid off the bench this year and take over as the starter in his sophomore season.
31. Indianapolis Colts -
Navorro Bowman OLB
Penn State
Mehling: With the 31st overall pick, the Colts will need to address the defense as they face questions with Bob Sanders being able to last a whole season and the possibility of losing Antoine Bethea. Bowman brings a hustle and an intimidating factor to a linebacker corp that was weakened over the years.
32. N. Orleans Saints -
Brian Price DT
UCLA
Bibler: A steal at 32, Price is the best available player by a long shot. Price will be able to help rush the passer and could become a favorite of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, whose aggressive play calling favors natural athletes like Price.
Rd. 2 Pk. 1 Rams -
Bauman: Anthony Davis OT
Rutgers
Rd. 2 Pk. 2 Lions -
Carlos Dunlap DE
Florida
Bibler: Dunlap is absolutely one of the most intriguing players in this draft. A possible top-10 talent, Dunlap has hurt himself with a DUI and inconsistent play, drawing comparisons to Vernon Gholston. With that being said, Dunlap is an absolute steal this low in the draft and would give the Lions a tremendous advantage upfront, adding him alongside Suh and free agent Kyle Vanden Bosch.
Rd. 2 Pk. 3 Buccaneers -
Mack: Charles Brown OT
USC
Rd. 2 Pk. 4 Chiefs -
Mehling: D. Thomas WR
Georgia Tech
Rd. 2 Pk. 5 Eagles -
Bibler: Nate Allen S
South Florida
Rd 2 Pk. 6 Browns-
Bauman: Colt McCoy QB
Texas
Bibler: Quite honestly, both McCoy and Tim Tebow could very well be first-round picks before the night is over with teams trading up to get them. However, in this format the Browns would jump at the chance to get the young Texas signal-caller to run their offense. While the Browns still may end up with McCoy, they may need to trade up to get him.
