University of Toledo swimming and diving coach Liz Hinkleman resigned July 6 after two seasons to pursue other coaching opportunities, UT announced.
An alumna of the program, Hinkleman led the Rockets to the Mid-American Conference title in 2012 and a second-place finish in 2011. She was named MAC Coach of the Year last season.
Hinkleman (2004-08) was a three-time MAC champion in the 200 meter freestyle relay, setting school and conference records. She returned to Toledo in 2009 and served as assistant coach for two years and was part of the coaching staff which led the Rockets to their first-ever MAC swimming title in 2010.
Hinkleman took the reigns in 2011 when former head coach Lars Jorgensen left to coach the men’s swimming and diving team at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee.
UT Athletic Director Mike O’Brien said a search for Hinkleman’s replacement is underway.
