September 13, 2017

The University of Toledo women’s soccer team (2-4-1) defeated Cleveland State 2-0 on the road this past Friday, Sept. 8, and lost 4-0 to Notre Dame on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Scott Park.

Cleveland State

Kelsey Kraft, second-year forward, scored the Rockets first goal just three minutes into the game. Kraft’s goal came off a deflection from CSU’s goalie, fourth-year forward, Sophie Pohl. The goal was Kraft’s first of the season.

Isa Echeverri, fourth-year midfielder, scored UT’s final goal of the game later in the first half with assistance from fourth-year defender, Chiara Paradiso.

UT’s defense stepped up to hold the Vikings scoreless. Madison Perrin, first-year goalkeeper, made four saves and recorded her third career shutout.

Notre Dame

The Rockets fought tooth and nail with the Fighting Irish throughout the first half, and both teams were scoreless going into halftime. Perrin added another two saves to the books in the first half.

ND controlled the second half, scoring four goals within 17 minutes. UT was outshot 13-3.

By the end of the game, Toledo and Notre Dame had each recorded 15 fouls.

The midnight blue and gold will continue their four-game home-stand next Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1:05 p.m. against Valparaiso. In two weeks, the Rockets will host Miami (OH) on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4:05 p.m., followed by Ball State on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:05 p.m.
