April 10, 2018

Over the weekend, UT women’s golf team placed second at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio.

On Saturday, third-year Pinyada Kuvanun held a two-stroke lead. Kuvanun shot an even par-72 at the par-72, 5,960-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club to help the Rockets earn a team score of 16-over par 304.

Kuvanun started her round with five straight pars before collecting a birdie. After notching bogeys on her ninth and 12th holes, Kuvanun registered two birdies and a bogey in her final four holes to finish at even-par.

Third-year Hannah Kochendoerfer recorded a season-best three-over par-75 for UT and tied for third place on the day.

Finishing off for the Rockets were second-year Saranlak Tumfong, who tied for 22nd place at six-over par-78. Third-year Natcha Daengpiem tied for 30th place at seven-over par-79 and fellow third-year Pimchanok Kawil tied for 45th place at nine-over par-81. Also competing for UT as individuals were second-years Donchanok Toburint (78/T-22nd) and Thunpijja Sukkasem (81/T-45th).

On Sunday, the Rockets finished just three strokes behind tournament champion University of Indianapolis.

Kuvanun almost won her second tournament title of the year as well. She finished one stroke behind winner Emily Hughes of Ohio University, who scored five-under par-67 to finish with an even par-144. Kuvanun had a chance to tie after getting to even-par with a birdie on the 16th hole but she bogeyed the 17th before posting par on the 18th.

Kochendoerfer earned her first top 10 showing of her career by tying for sixth place at seven-over par-151 (75-76). Tumfong (78-75=153) and Daengpiem (79-75=154) each recorded three-over par-75s today to tie for 15th and 19th place, respectively.

Another notable Rocket was third-year Pimchanok Kawil, who tied for 32nd place at 15-over par-159 (81-78). Also competing for UT as individuals were Sukkasem (81-77=158/T-29th) and Toburint (DQ-84=84/98th).

The Rockets will return to the green when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 14 and 15.
